What happens on the first day of camp? - an example of what to expect an average day of
camp to look like

8:30 - 9:15 Kids check in, they are shown where to put lunches & helmets in the barn, they can say good morning to the horses, then they go to the picnic tables to meet their team mates.

9:15 - 10:00 Explain the camp schedule to kids, answer any questions, each team goes to the barn to get their horse ready to ride.

10:00 - 11:45 In the barn campers are shown how to groom and tack up horses in the cross-ties. In the riding arena we go over mounting, steering, turning and stopping the horse. Each camper gets a turn to practice.

11:45 - 12:00 Bring horses back in the barn, untack the horses, fill water buckets, wash hands and get lunches.

12:00 - 1:00 Lunch time! Free time! After the campers eat they are welcome to feed the horses carrots or apples, they can explore the farm looking for frogs and dragon-flies. After lunch everyone is reminded to use the restroom before we get the horse out to ride again.

1:00 - 2:00 Tack up horses again, head out to the arena to play a riding game that encourages riders to use the skills they learned while riding earlier.

2:00 - 2:30 Un-tack horses, put horses in stall, cleans stalls, wash hands, get a popsicle to cool off.

2:30 - 3:00 Craft time. Each day we will have a horse themed craft. Wait for parents to come pick up.

**GGHF has an open door policy. Parents are always welcome to come see the kids at camp.

** All parents are encouraged to come out on Friday afternoon to see our final riding session of the week. All week long the campers have been working on earning points as a team - on Friday (@ 1:00) we have our final riding competition. This is a chance for the campers to show off what they have learned during the week. Our camps are focused on team building exercises and communication skills. Please plan to come out on Friday @ 1:00 to cheer your camper on!!
